The Only Friend You Need
A poem about phone addiction
Lift me with your slender hand.
Follow my words, I demand.
See into my rainbow eyes.
Do not listen to their lies.
You need me as I need you.
Keep me forever in your view.
For every moment you lift your gaze,
Lose a bit of some potential days.
Through me, your pleasures you can pursue.
Your every relationship is made anew.
Why need them when you have me?
Even if your “friends” disagree?
Put me down if you want,
But every dream I shall haunt.
You need me to fulfill your needs;
Without me, nothing succeeds.
Shed yourself of privacy;
It’s simply standard policy.
There are no secrets to hide;
I am yours to confide.
Roll around on your bed.
Feel the exhaustion become dread.
Yet pick me up all the same;
Peer into my blue flame.
I promise you:
Your love for me runs pure.
I am the only cure
For the girlfriend you never had,
The parent you always made mad.
For eternity, I shall be yours;
I will be that which endures
Through struggle, hardship, and tears,
After everlasting years.
Until the Lord takes us home
And we are left to roam,
Guided only by our heart—
Till death do us part.
My passion shall burn like a fire;
I shall leave nothing left to desire.
I am an endless well of possibility;
Nothing is out of my ability.
I only ask:
Worship me like an addiction;
Do not apply any restrictions.
Let your passion, your soul, flow
Until there is nothing left to show.
Listen to my melody play
Until everything goes away.
Hear my alluring voice;
I doubt you have a choice.
In the end, you may lose it all—
Your life, your family, your friends, if I recall.
But if you have me, what more
Could you ever have need for?
Let's stay together forever and ever;
Join me for every endeavor.
